I have some Titegroup, and want to try it in my Walther PPQ .45 acp under some 452460's.

I looked at several threads about Titegroup under 200 gr cast booolits and saw loads between 4.2 - 4.8gr.

The Hodgdon load data for 200 gr. cast LSWC shows START 4.8gr MAX: 5.4gr.

Since I'm shooting through a polygonal barrel, I'm being cautious about pushing too hard with fast powder, as I don't want the leading fairy to visit, and was thinking of 4.8gr. Is 4.8 Titegroup actually a light load, and the other loads that I mentioned considered very light loads?

For what it's worth Lyman's 4th Edition lists loads using Titegroup with Lyman #452460 at 4.5gr (813fps) to 5.1gr (895fps).

I have no experience with the Walther PPQ or polygonal rifling , but decades with that boolit and the 1911. Usually when trying something, the middle of the road is a good place to start. Taking the min. and max. of Hodgon and Lyman's data the average is 4.95 grains...so your starting load of 4.8 is a good place to start. I would load some at 4.8 grs. , 4.9 grs. , and 5.0 grs. and head for the range to test them.

I still have a bunch of the lyman 200gr swc single lube groove boolit loaded on top of 4.9grs of titegroup.
it's not a down load by any means.
I'd not hesitate to start at 4 grs and come up if your seating the boolit back to the shoulder.
I am still deciding whether to use that 4 gr load, 4 grs of bulls-eye, or whether to use a light load of clay's.
all I'm looking for is a functioning load that's accurate at 25 yds.
