Computer question

My laptop hinge broke and is about to go out alltogeather, I have another puter on the way from amazon. How can I take the hard drive from this puter and use it as an external drive until all data is moved over.

Please call Me as I may not ba able to get online if this thing craters.

All you need is a hard drive adapter kit like the one in the link.

Depending on age of HDD that should work. Been using the same model for over a decade.

There is a lot of options open to you. What you need to know is. Is your old HDD a SATA or an IDE. if it's newer than say five years or so it is a SATA.

You'll also need to know how to open your laptop to get the HDD out.
You didn't say what your old Laptop is.

2.5 is the laptop hdd size generally. Slap it in the enclosure and it will plug in like a usb disk to your new computer.

Well as the boys put up you can get a case for your old had. There are even some doitall cables with connections for sata IDE both for 3.5 and 2.5" drives. Some are even a kind of station where you seat the disks very common in repair shops.Did the hinge broke or they became loose? If loose and you have some ability you can retighten the bushing. If broke there are ugly workarounds but since you got a new computer...Hi there MaLar fellow Linux user here...
