In your opinion, how much can you size the nose of a RCBS 35 200 FN bullet and still retain accuracy? How far can you size down the nose of this 35 Remington bullet??

Does Buckshot still make nose sizing dies??

Thank you

I understand Buckshot retired (again!) and is happily shooting. NOE has what you need.

I was thinking of having Buckshot make me a nose sizer for .30 cal.

Guess I will have to check NOE also. (Buckshot is still #1)

you can size it down sure but why do you need to ? Is it too large to chamber or ?what issue are you having , The nose should lightly engrave . If you size down smaller than that the bullet will be unsupported the same way the Lyman 358315 is Ok for slower speeds but gets loose the faster you push it .

Yes, it is too large to chamber with powder coat. Without powder coat it chambers fine. I want to use powder coated bullets if I can as I have had good results with them.

you could try the powder coat on just the base.
I'd imagine your tumbling to apply it, but you could try something different to just get it on the base.
maybe a little something on the nose [silicone spray?] before tumbling to stop the powder from sticking would work.

here is what I did to solve that, clean mold, tape all but nose of mold, get some 1200 deg paint paint nose section of mold. will work and mine has stayed for a couple of years. Easy to re do when it gets thin. O yes let cure for at least 24 hrs

What kind of volume is involved?

The more the volume, the more you should consider in the way of up front cost/effort. For low volume, some method of removing the powder from the nose is low cost and effective.

The high temp paint in the nose of the mold sounds like a nifty solution.

Sizing the nose down is being discussed at:

I have done a batch of bare nosed Lee C358-200-RF just for the heck of it (the nose with PC does not cause me any problems for this boolit).

I used the same basic method as I did for my Lee C309-170-F that was causing problems due to PC on the nose. The 30 cal bare nose discussion is at:

I had an unused die opened up to except the wilson nec sizing bushes which has a slightly radiused entry and with the die shortened just enough to allow for a washer over to hold the bush against the up stroke it was a perfect solution for when I needed to nose size a portion of my bullets so I could load to the desired length. The little screwdriver is pointing to where I needed to size to which made it a firm slide fit into the bore with the remaining nose length being a thou over for guidence.

I have bushes for a few bullets and it was a cheap (ish) solution to the problem for me.
