I just unboxed my new 4500 lubesizer and bolted It to the bench, than, I open the piston to take a look inside. Two thing of concern

1- when removing the piston, a white nylon bushing fell on the bench before I could notice where It came from. I quess It goes at the bottom of the reserve. Am I right?

2- The bottom of the reserve is full of metal shaving that I cannot get out. It is gum up with oil. Should I put some lube in there and push It out?

All opinion welcome.

I would try some kind of thinner to cut the oil and get it out that way. You sure don't want shaving in your lube grooves. Heat is another way to go--get it warm and see if they oil/shavings will pour out.

Bushing should go below the pistol to keep it from going too far down

Metal shavings ....eee gad !
after a call to Lyman,
I'd use mineral spirits to de-gum and thin out that machining oil???
BE SURE to clean out all the shavings.
Good Luck.

PS, yes the white nylon bushing goes into the bottom of the reservoir, it keeps you from bottoming out the pressure screw.

I will trie some solvant to get all the shaving out, break cleaner maybe. It look like machining residue, lots of It.
