Anyone have experience with High Plains Gunstocks?

Seems he has some good prices on finished and unfinished grips and forearms for Contenders in pistol and rifle configurations.
I was leaning to an unfinished laminate for my Contender and Super 14 barrels to shoot off the bench. Unfinished would let me modify it to what I want then later finish it. I see in Google searches, some of his products didn't have good reviews on some forums, but that was over 5 years ago.
I emailed some questions to him and he responded quickly in 90 minutes. (But only answered one of several I had...:-()
