Seriously thinking about an NOS(new/unfired in box but made some years ago) Winchester 1892 SRC in .45 Colt. A FFL friend of mine owns it and has been keeping it for himself..however he's lost interest in .45 Colt lever-guns and says he will let it go for what he has in it(around $900).

Anyhow..He really doesn't recall when he bought the SRC M1892...and it really doesn't match anything Winchester is cataloging currently. This model is a standard looking 1892 SRC, 20" barrel/mag-tube, carbine buttplate...but new enough it has the tang safety and probably a rebounding hammer(didn't check for that).

When did Winchester market standard 20" SRC carbines in .45 Colt?

Did these have the rebounding hammer/misfire issues like the M1886 actions?

Thanx Rag

Not sure - But I have exactly the same gun in a 16 inch or trapper length. It is a fine shooter and I would not take for it.

This particular version has a ladder type rear sight(like my Browning 1886 SRC)...I saw one quite like or same as except it had a big-loop lever for sale online.

Seems Winchester changes the features of it's M92 line-up year to year..hard to tell what they've made in the past!

That would be a no brainer. I'd snatch it up.

Sounds like fun, fixes for the rebounding hammer a tang safety have been worked out for some time now so if they are an issue it should be easy enough to resolve. 45Colt chambering, 92 Winchester action, Miroku quality, fair price....what's not to like?
