gonna make lube

Whenever I run out of Magma lube I'm gonna try making some myself but there's an endless number of recipes out there. What's the simplest way to make a lube about as hard as Magmas and not sticky. I use a Star sizer on a heater.

I checked out http://www.castpics.net and http://castbullets.gunloads.com/luberecipes.htm but they don't mention hardness or stickyness.

I'm not familiar with Magma, but can vouch that Felix lube is harder than say NRA 50/50 (despite the other stuff in it, in practice about as hard as beeswax) and is excellent stuff. I only have been using 50/50 of late b/c I got a bunch for free. In any case, it has very little stickiness.

magma's lube is what 1.25 each?
you could try jakes ceresin purple it is like 40 sticks for about 50.00
it compares to magma's lube pretty favorably.
if you want something comparable you will need something probably with parafin,carnuba
and beeswax. or b.a.c which is b-wax,alox,carnuba.

Magma said today theirs is $1.40 a stick which is fine but shipping on the last little bunch was $13. Unreal. But it's not a money thing as much as it looks like it would be fun to make.

You could try beeswax and vasoline in the ratio that suited you for the hardness you need. I plan on making some Lithbee which is about equal amounts of lithium chassis grease and beeswax. You could add a little carnuba wax in to shine your bore.

I called a local beekeeper today to see about wax and it turns out he casts boolits and he said he made his last batch using a wax toilet ring, lithium grease and candle wax.
