I used to drop by regularly when I lived in Missoula. Jon does most of his casting, though his bro and a renter have done some on occasion. He uses a hard alloy and lube though he will send them naked if you prefer to lube and check them yourself. I have had nothing but positive experiences with him but most of them were of the "can you find me this mold?" experience. I believe him to be straightforward and honest. Gianni

Gianni,

I ordered x100 each of four different bullets to start out, for my Blackhawk 30 Carbine, Enfield No. 2 Mk1**, 357Mag and Ruger Old Army with R&D Conversion. Three of these being on the exotic/unusual side. In the 30 Carbine I'll be working up light loads using around 5gr of Unique and heavy loads running 10gr of 2400 using the Lyman #311359. In .380-38/200-39 S&W I'm thinking 3gr of Unique or 2.5gr of Bullseye with the 200gr Lyman #358430. In 45 Colt I'll using 8gr of Unique or possibly one 30gr Pyrodex pellet with the Lee #90570 165gr LRNFP, this lighter bullet should be very close in weight to 45 cal ball. Finally, in my 357 Mags I want to try the Lyman #358093 with medium loads of 2400. The cone tipped profile of this bullet has fascinated me for years. If everything works out my next order will be for a smorgasbord of x1000 bullets of various types, as variety is the spice of reloading.

I have bought some bullets from Jon, but mostly I've bought a bunch of moulds from him over the years (I don't think he's selling moulds anymore). I've stopped in and visited him a couple of times as I was passing through Missoula, and he's a very nice guy, who treats his customers well.

Jon used to have a source on the east coast and he traveled a lot both of them looking for estate sales from shooters. E-bay has changed a lot of that. The last time I talked to him he was going to get married and by nature might settle down some. [his fiancee had a "What would Sarah Conner do?" sign on the back of her truck so settleing down is relative.] Gianni

Hello,

Got my bullets from http://www.westernbullet.com/cbip/cbip.html and was pleased with their quality. Loaded up x50 of each and headed to the range with the following results.

1) 200gr Lyman #358430: These were my main motivation for buying from Western, my load consisted of 2gr of Bullseye, WSP primer, 38 S&W Starline case. These loads shot to point of aim at 7 and 15 yards in my Enfield No.2 Mk1 revolver, with no leading.
2) 125gr Lyman #358093: These bullets just looked too cool not to try, my load consisted of 11gr of 2400, WSP primer, Remington brass case. Shot to point of aim in my Blackhawk which was sighted in for hot 158gr JSPs and 2" low in my GP-100 with is sighted in for hot 125gr JHPs. Very accurate load with no leading.

3) 115gr Lyman #311359: Always looking for something to feed my 30 Carbine Blackhawk, my load consisted of 10gr of 2400, WSR primer, and a Winchester case. These loads shot to point of aim at 7 and 15 yards with reasonable muzzle blast at an indoor range with no leading. Full power loads are just too loud for indoor shooting. Also, this was one of the most accurate loads to date in my Blackhawk shooting into an inch at 15 yards, with no leading.

4) Lee #90570 165gr LRNFP: I've wanted to try loads closer to the weight of lead ball in my Ruger Old Army (ROA) using a R&D Conversion Cylinder. My load consisted of 8gr of Unique, WLP primer, and Winchester case. These loads shot two inches low at 15 yards into a nice two inch group with no leading.

These bullets are a great value and I had a great time at the range shooting them.
