Just heard an ad on the radio that Firestone is going to stop using lead wheel weights and start using "enviromentally friendly" weights. I wonder how many others will follow suit.

I am sure that Firestones' move to zinc tire weights was more a decision based on costs and not on the enviroment. Most big corporations don't give a hoot about anything but their bottom line!

They do make tires, but in my area there are quite a few Firestone stores that sell and mount tires.

They have stores across Texas as well. Never have been able to get 1 wheel weight from them.

Most of those big name tire shops aren't worth the trouble of stopping. Look for the smaller out of the way places. They're not hog tied by corporate policies.
