Hi Guys,
Been lurking for a looong time.
I need some help.
I am looking for a good load combination for .308 Winchester/ .762 nato for a Omark Sportco 44 bolt rifle.
I would like to shoot cast bullets. Velocity is not important, but would like to shoot 100 yds.
Any good suggestions???

If I recall correctly, the Sportco 44 rifles have a tight bore and 12-inch twist of rifling of four-groove NATO form, similar to the inch FAL. In similar .308 Win. chambered rifles I have had good results with the NOE bullet 311-155FN, cast 50-50 wheelweights and linotype, sized .311 and loaded with 30 grains of either 4895, 4064, RL15 or Varget, about 1800 fps and accurate to 200 yards.

a tight bore or tight barrel screams 7.5 swiss.
the best results I have had in my swiss rifles is with a mold very similar to outposts it's the rcbs 30-165 silhouette mold.
you can adjust your alloy with more lead to make things a tick smaller or add some lino-type to help adjust things bigger.
this gives the nose a slip fit into the barrel with a little engraving.
I size to 310 which just barely slides the drive bands into the ball seat area on many of my tighter rifles.
keeping the speed in the 18-1900 fps area usually gives me the better results with that boolit.

Hi,
And thank you for the information.
I really look forward to playing with this fine old rifle, and seeing what it can do.

I have an Omark 44 also. I want to shoot subsonic cast at 50m ISSF Smallbore targets to see if o can shoot a 200 card. Outward gauging of course.

The Omark barrels are 1:14" twist designed to shoot 144gn FMJ's in full bore matches. I have a couple and for my 'squib' loads I load a 71gn FMJ pistol boolit or a 115gn RCBS boolit originally for the M1 carbine

Omarks can be found with twist barrels from 10 to 14 twist. Mine has a pristine 12 twist. I plan on loading a 200gn right at 1100 fps. I think it will be a nice combo. Trailboss powder will be my friend.
