View Full Version : Does Lyman stamp #s on their top punches?

I ordered a 452460 mold whose boolit calls for a #460 top punch. I may have misplaced a box with some top punches in my storage unit after moving recently. I've been doing an archeological dig, but only found four of them so far, and they don't have numbers stamped on them. I guess they could be from some group buy molds. I know that I have #460, somewhere, as I have a receipt for one.

Perhaps it's one of the unmarked punches -- does anyone know if Lyman stamps any kind of # on their top punches?

Thanks,

Randy

Good thought, just checked and no markings on any of the four.

That's wild, all mine have a number on the end.

I'm thinking thise are from group buys. Lyman stamps the number on top of the shank, RCBS stamps them on the collar. Not sure about Saeco, their punches don't fit any of my machines. I would guess that Ideal did the same as Lyman, but I can't say so for sure.

Saeco top punches are stamped on the hex in the same location as RCBS top punches. I know this because there are a couple of them (made for use in a Lyman or RCBS sizer) in the bunch that I bought last fall.

After looking at the prices on Midway's website those are probably going to be the only two I ever have.

Then I had better start digging deeper for the boolit casting box that must still be in storage.

I am almost certain I have a few Lyman tp's with stamps on the collar. Also, I have a RCBS without a number at all (it is 251 and is stamped "RCBS").

Found the box, found the #460 top punch. Life is good...

...a few, but I'll never remember where they were when I need them.

Yep, I found 5 when I looked. All were purchased new in the last few months.

I'd just like to find some of the stuff I know that I have got. Stuffs been lost for years.

Yeah, was looking for something else the other day and came across 2 sets of dies that I forgot I had and had bought identical ones recently.
