The specs:

.450" or .500" crimp to meplat measurements
Additional information here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=29187
Designed for .44 Magnum revolvers. Lever action rifle use is dubious at best.
This bullet has not been PROVEN to feed from any rifle at any OAL. Caveat emptor.
The terms:
This Lee Precision 6 cavity mold block group buy will cost $70 (including shipping for inside the US) for the first mold with $52 for every additional mold. This group buy will run with a minimum of 10 people. Interested buyers from outside the US should contact me for pricing.
A $10 refund will be returned with your mold if by some miracle we reach the 25 mold mark. Leftover monies resulting from the purchase of more than 10 molds (but less than 25) will be donated to offset the cost of running this forum.
All funds will be held until the group buy closes and will be returned if the 10 person minimum is not met. This group buy will be canceled and full refunds will gladly made available in the event that LEE quality control fails to meet minimum standards on outstanding group buys delivered before this buy closes.
I reserve the right to cancel this group buy for any reason. In that event, full refunds will promptly be made.
Molds will be sent out promptly by way of USPS once received from LEE. I can't guarantee delivery.
If the molds do not function as intended it will be incumbent on purchasers to reach a settlement directly with LEE either as individuals or group(s).
This group buy will close mid to late June.
These terms are nonnegotiable.
This is a No Whining™ group buy. If you don’t like it, do your own.

Mr. Myers,
Would you mind doing calculating the center of pressure for this?
I'll put up a dimensioned drawing in a second.

Nice. Does the 'center of pressure' of a boolit affect performance?

That will be a good bullet for the 41 Swiss. or 444 Marlin, Size it from .428 to .433
Tom Myers

Nice. Does the 'center of pressure' of a boolit affect performance?
The Center of pressure is based on the profile area of the bullet and represents the theoretical center of air pressure on the bullet as it is flying through the air with a slightly nose-up attitude.
The farther the center of pressure from the center of bullet mass, the greater the leverage that is applied towards creating unstable bullet flight. Therefore, the closer the center of pressure is to the center of mass, the less leverage and the more stable the bullet is supposed to be. Based on my experience, it seems to work too.
Respectfully,
Tom Myers

It should. It is also a royal bitch to calculate. I usually guess.

You can also find the center of pressure without calculating.
If you can make up an accurate profile drawing of the bullet on a piece of stiff paper or thin cardboard, Simply cut it out and balance it on the edge of a ruler or knife blade. The balance point of the cutout is the centroid of the bullet profile and represents the center of pressure of the bullet, but it IS NOT the Center of MASS of the bullet that it represents.
You can also find the Center of Mass of the bullet without calculations by placing a bullet on it's side and use a knife blade caliper to pick up a bullet with the caliper blades held vertically, gripping the bullet on each side of a driving band or in a grease groove. When you pick up the bullet precisley at the center of mass, it will remain horizontal. But even the slighest grip off of the center of mass will allow the imbalance to cause the bullet to tip.

I'll send a check this weekend. Just what I need for my 444 contender carbine. Glad you put 2 crimp grooves so it can be seated deeper for 44 mags that don't have long cylinders. I bet if you trim some brass back to 44special length most 44 mags would handle it.

I'm in 3 other group buys that went in before this one. One is at the 10 month mark and still waiting. No more Lee group buys for me. Agreed. We have waited this long, what another couple of weeks. Still, Lee SUCKS!
Remember that the date the order is "sent in" is not related to the "start time" ! The order is placed on the LEE "to do" LIST once all of the paperwork is completed. The Honcho signs and returns an agreement that is provided by LEE once payment is finalized.
The moulds arrive when they arrive! There really is nothing the honcho can do to influence that. LEE does not even complete the work in the order they are accepted on the LIST no matter what they say to the contrary ! It is semi-random!!!!
Honchoing (new word) is a VERY frustrating business ! I know I am done running Group Buys on advice of my cardiologist ! :) :) I only have one that is now outstanding and it is my last !
MiHec gets my money ! Slovenia of all places comes to the rescue ! :) :)

I guess you have to wait until Lee pulls your order out of the "hat"! I was in 4 other group buys that went in after this one that have arrived. Saw several others that were ordered after this one come in also. Too late for this deer season, maybe 2010? Not blaming the honcho, just venting about Lee. My 2 orders with NOE came in 2 months and at specs. Well worth the price for the quality.

Intentional or not, I'm not going to run anymore group buys for Lee molds. For a little more money we get a product made to spec from people that don't hold onto our money for a year.

we should ask for our money back and start over somewhere else. I don't understand why Lee is skipping over this group buy, and that is surely what they are doing. more than likely if and when we do get them , they will probably be out of spec.

The last two i've gotten were undersized and the one I sent back was returned in a few weeks, which isn't bad. BUT, this 44 gb is now in the 14th month since the order was sent.

It is time to move this buy to NOE. Lee does not deserve
our group buy business. I would rather pay more and

I agree. Lee is telling us that they don't want our business. We should give them an answer by asking for a full refund. At this point I'd rather give my dollars to someone else even if the same mold design costs more.

If this gets pulled from Lee, is there a chance that the offering would open again for a short time to allow those of us that are new to the board to get in on a NOE version?
I know, it's a lot of ifs, but I'll bet there are more than a couple of us that would jump.

The "placed & confirmed" BS is about the little piece of they make you sign and return now.
I'd never filled one out before, so I didn't miss it when they sent it to the wrong address. They called months later and faxed another one.
If anyone is interested I can look up to date when the order was initially placed.

The molds look good. The cavities on the few I opened were excellent.
There was a dimensional typo on the on the paperwork that was sent out with the finished molds and I about lost it. but the molds appear to be cut right (I double checked what I sent LEE, the dimensions as ordered are correct).
That's the good news.
Bad news:
I'm not going to be able to ship these before Christmas. If somebody is still able to hunt this year and wants to try the mold in the next week and a half maybe week can make a special arrangement to get one out.

FOUND THEM! FOUND THEM! FOUND THEM!
The desktop computer is still not working (an electrical problem, it doesn't even come on), but I found the paper backups!
I'll format labels, print them at work (or maybe even try to hook the laptop to a printer) and get these puppies out.
Anybody that has had a change of address in the last 18 months should let me know ASAP.
I was wondering if we need to resend our address' or some thing to help out ?
I would have done this except I didn't want to end up with 25 addresses and 18 molds. It wouldn't have even required any malintent on anyone's part. I forget which group buy I got in on and which I didn't all the time.
In the month after I got the molds and aside from moving to TX, the following events taken place:
My dad's birthday
My parents anniversary
Christmas
My anniversary
My wife threw a bridal shower
My sister's 30th birthday
New Years (a big holiday in my wife culture)
My other sister's wedding (her first, her husbands 4th)
My brother's wedding
My 3 remaining grandparents took turns in the hospital
I have not cast a bullet, loaded a round or been to the range since receiving the molds. I will enjoy resuming after they have been sent out. When I took on the obligation of running this group buy I had no inkling that we'd move from WV nor that the delivery timing could ever be SO bad. This has weighted on me mightily.
I'll be so glad to get out from under it.
I'll put my $.02 in when we have a design thread I like and I won't hesitate to throw in on future group buys, but I think I've done my last.
Thanks everybody for your patience.

I think 2 weeks is long enough to wait.
Since I have 2 molds missing in the mail and only one remaining mold (mine), I need to decide what to do.
I can either flip a coin and give Mack or Blammer first choice of a replacement mold or refund OR I can put the mold up for auction and let them both have a chance at it (in addition to refunding their money).
Any other ideas?

Yup. Mine arrived. In fact it was dated 2/18 and has been sitting on a shelf for the last two weeks. Picked it up today. Good thing you told me of using the alternate address. I had to ask them to look for it in back. Either they did not put a notice in my box or it got mixed in with all of the junk mail. Given the length of time since it arrived, there should have been more than one notice. My guess is that the new crew there is not up to speed.
Anyhow, you only have one missing mold. So that should ease things for you. Many thanks for your efforts.

I've got the PO doing a trace on it. It has a barcode that they can supposedly track and there is a small chance that they can recover it. The guy did mention that the incidence of lost or damaged packages goes up in bad weather. We'll keep our fingers crossed. But now with just one missing I'm much relieved knowing that this can still come out right.
As far as you not getting a mold: you did the final design for it, you ought to have one. That's all there is to that. As for me; first in, last out. This whole cursed thing was my idea, and done on my terms (which I reserve the right to alter, see first post of this thread).
