I'm looking for a mold for a .32ACP Boolit. I'd also like one to try in a .32 squirrel rifle I have. Not too many choices out there! Any thoughts on the TL314-90-SWC? I'm concerned it's too heavy for the 32ACP and too long for my 1-48" Black powder rifle. The .32 maxiball doesn't want to stabilize out of the squirrel rifle. It's .630" long and, at almost 2 x diameter, I'm not that surprised it won't group. I was looking for any input someone might have. I'm still new at this cast boolit thing! ;)

Thanks!

John

I've got a 311 316 that is a really well designed RNFP at 115 grains. I've also got a 311576 which is a 120 grain RN. both are gas check designs. As to lighter boolits, I can't be much help, I don't like them. But others here do like them and will probly help you out. I believe Lee makes a soup can 30 that is very much like the311316.

I use the Lee Soup Can design, cast soft, unsized and unchecked, in the Russian Nagant revolver. Shoots well.

All right, I guess I'm still new enough to ask a stupid question-

What's a "soup can" boolit? I saw the pics of the boolits cast from the "7mm soup can" mold and they just look like "boolits" to my untrained eye.

Thanks for helping further my educaion!

John

I have used the TL314-90-SWC in my 32 acp at plinking levels. Seated to function through the mag over 1.5 grains of red dot I get near 100% function. (No jams or stovepipes yet but one may be coming). Accuracy is very good considering the platform. At 1.4 grains I got one or two stovepipes per 10 rounds. You probably won't have enough powder room for any serious shooting but I haven't had one stick in the paper yet.

The Soup Can is the C309-113-F boolit. It in no way resembles or suggests a soup can to me, either, but it did to some oldtimer on here and the name stuck. Just another somewhat silly board tradition, like the word "boolit."
:-P

Have you looked at the 311-93-1R? It comes in a 6-holer, which the SWC doesn't. I've been thinking about getting one of those, as I'll probably start loading for the 7.62x25 eventually, I can use it in the Nagant, and I think it'd be fun to play with (as would the SWC) as a super light plinking boolit in .30 caliber rifles.

Cool!

I'll probably buy one of those next time I send in an order. May be a while. I've exceeded my gun and loading supply budget for the present. ;)
