255 rfn has been good to me in my blackhawk and Smith 460

I use the 255 LRN and also the 252 SWC which drops at 256gr with my coww alloy. Both shoot great.

I would also suggest the 452-255 RNFP as a general paper puncher . If you plan to hold the loads to Colts loads then the 452-252 SWC is ok the 8.5 gr of Unique was good to go at 9.5 gr which is into the Ruger loads and a great load in the RBH that I loaded for , it tumbled in the companion 92' 16" . I think it was due time trans-sonic issues as the pistol ran about 1050 and the rifle was right about 1200 fps.

They both shoot the lighter 8-8.5 load well with both bullets.

back when I bought my 45 convertible black hawk I ordered a double cav lee 255 swc mold when it showed up the mold halves were out of alignment so I sent it back .they sent me a replacement it was same way so I just cancelled my order and used the tumble lube 200 gr swc mold I already had here ,I realize 200 gr is allot lighter than most people shoot out of a 45 lc but they shoot great .

I have great results using my Lee tl452-230 tc in my father-in-laws Tc pistol and Rossi circuit judge carbine. Gerry accurate, drops into cylinders well and hits like a hammer.

the lee 452 -255gr bullet has worked very well for me in a ruger Blackhawk with 8.5 gr unique and in a rossi 92 w 24 in barrel with 18 gr of 2400 has been very accurate out to 75 yds so far. explodes gallon milk jugs full of water.

Round flatnose forms tend to work well in revolver/lever rifle combinations. In the late 19th Century when this practice originated, the round flatnose was THE design found in the hyphenated WCF calibers adapted for this regimen......and in a lot of other applications as well.

I switched over from the Lee 230 gr TL LFN to a NOE 230gr HP mold. I still have a Lee 230gr RN I bought thinking it would work in my autos and wheel guns, but had to get the FN mold as they were to long. I have noticed a rather big difference in velocity from the Lee 230gr to the NOE 230gr. Same load data, brass, etc, but the NOE is faster by nearly 100fps. I couldn't find my book with the exact numbers.
