My throat measures 0.3110", and I have my sizing die honed to give me 0.3105". I don't want to keep honing and go over and have to start again.

How close do I need to be for best accuracy while still maintaining easy chambering?

Your .3105 is PERFECT! You want a close fit which enters easily without resistance.

Revolver cylinder throats are covered. If it is a rifle throat you want to match up the angles as close as possible.

It is for a rifle (308 Win). I measured a pound slug and matched the mold (Accurate) as close as possible.

for bolt rifles I like to see some scuffing around the ball seat area and on the nose when I chamber the round.
not a hard force which re-seats the boolit deeper [which I do use on many bore ride boolits] but a slight resistance where things are snuggled into place when I close the bolt.

I do get a bit of scuffing on the front driving band, and the lands lightly engrave the nose, so I will go shoot it and decide if I need to go bigger after that.

Got to leave a little wiggle room for growth as age hardening changes the size of the boolit later on. If you size to a drag fit now, and 3mos down the road your boolits grow a couple or a few tenths they won't chamber.

I was wondering about that...I'll leave it as is and see what happens to a loaded round after some time. I water dropped these and sized withing a few hours.

The scuffing can be eliminated if I seat just a few thousandths shorter, so I have a bit of control. The last half of the front driving band has a slight taper, so a little turn on the seating stem, either way, makes it a crush or clearance fit.

sounds like you are in business.
I generally let my water dropped stuff sit around for 5-6 months before messing with it.
one of the tricks I learned from Felix was to size my rifle stuff just before use.

I'll be shooting these fairly soon. It's a new mold and I can't hold out that long!
