You just discovered my favorite economical action, everybody and their dog has had howa put their name on them so they could peddle them ( OK OK about everybody except remchester & savage ) none more so than weatherby ,congrats !

Now that's good shooting! I've fallen for the .30-06 cased cartridges. .30-06, .270, and as you know, the .25-06. Way to go.

i have a 30-06 i haven't even shot yet.... its a marlin bolt action we shall see later how accurate it is, not sure if i should keep it or sell it the way this 270 shoots.....

More is better! I'd keep it, shoot it, use it, & enjoy it. This is anecdotal and doesn't mean anything more than it is but, my buddy - hunting with a good friend and his .270, set up a one shot elk DRT with the friends .270 Win. at 740 yards. I don't know the guy, the gun or the conditions, and it's something I would never do nor recommend, but that is the potential of that .270 round. When I balked at that report, my friend said, "Yep. It happened. I was standing right there with him." The shooter set up a hasty, but solid, shooting rest, lasered the shot, did his calculations & settled down to make the shot. I'm happy when I can bench my 7 mm for 500 yard targets. 740 is way out of my comfy zone.

wow i know it is a flat shooter but 740 yards is way out there for me too , maybe sell my 308 AR10. and keep the 30-06 too, but this 270 is here to stay...

i don't know the trigger , pounds but it is very light and have no need to adjust it , i thought it was advertised at 3 lbs ...............

looking it up, it has a 2 stage match trigger.
it has no creep to the trigger

shoot-n-lead,
That was my exact response, as well. I don't have a horse in this race and don't really care. The fact remains that it was observed by somebody I trust with my life and he is just reporting it to me. Wasn't him. Wasn't his gun. Wasn't his load. He did do the laser work to range the animal and was there as the shooter calculated his shot. They ate elk. What can I say? I can only add that this was not your average hunting rifle. The shooter had his supertunedloudenbanger and does long range accuracy as a hobby. Personally, I am in the camp that thinks this kind of stuff is unethical. Believe it or not, I don't care.

for what it is worth i do believe it , i too agree it is unethical to shoot this far with depleted ballistic power and human error , i dont think i would try more than 300 yards but there are far better shooters than me , i will not call someone a liar if i dont have proof , it just isnt fair . i look for the good in my fellow man . a 740 yard shot would be out of my scope but the right guy rifle and shot placement it is possible.
