22 K hornet. Single shot Contender.
Reason I'm asking, I need to seat the boolit longer. When I get the length I need I have no groove. If I don't need a crimp I would be in heaven.
Can't crimp a hornet unless it is in a groove. Will crush the case every time.
I know someone has been there .

In my 22 Hornet 10 inch Contender I very lightly crimp with a Lee Factory Crimp die. I also do the same with my 218 Bee Encore Rifle.............Terry

Well I hope this helps I shoot Hornady 50gr Sp bullets. I know there not cast and they also have no crimp groove. I use the Lee factory crimp die and put a little tension using this die. With this bullet and H110 or Imr 4227 of a rest out of Contender with 14'' barrel three shot groups of .380 at 100 yards.

For a single shot you won't need a crimp. Use your crimp die to straighten out the case mouth - just enough to chamber is all you need.

You don't need a crimp for a single shot.

I have a 22 hornet TC Contender & do not crimp the bullet at all. Not necessary for single shots.
