What do I have here? Anyone know this mold and what manufacturer?

I know it's pretty. Don't have a 54 cal shooter, but could not pass it up at $10. Yep- bout' fell over and rapidly reached for my wallet when the guy said $10... :drinks:

I tried to post photos here, but this system will not let me upload photos from my Mac Desktop, for some reason.

Kind of looks like to me a TC maxi Hunter. Either way 54 conical moulds are hard to come by and you got a real good find there. Manufacturer could be uncertain as T/C had several different manufacturers make moulds for them.

What mooman76 said + those are genuine T/C handles. That's a rare find indeed, Pat. Now all you need is to make a pre-luber for it and find a .54cal bbl. with a twist faster than 1:48.

if you don't shoot a 54 you could make about 1000% return on yer investment by puttin' it in the classifieds here. probably more than that if ya put it on evil-bay.

Heck, I'll give you $10 just for the handles! What a deal!

Do molds with hollow point pins not require venting? I don't see any venting lines on the face of the blocks.

Just checked. There are vent lines on one side.

Well since I got the mold, I had to get a rifle to shoot it right?

How's this 54 cal Maven?

I just sold a ring, that has brought me nothing by grief and I took a loss, but it's much better to look and shoot this beautiful rifle then look at a damn ring that Pi$$'s me off.

I feel so much better now...

forgive the pun but, that's a sharp lookin' rifle. don't know how T/C designed bullets will work in it. if ya look, in a couple of those pix it shows a Sharps bullet with the large grease-grooves & the rebated base for attachin' paper cartridges.

Thanks Bubba, well it may not work that great, but it will be fun tryin'. I can always trade for a different mold.

Always wanted to look Sharp...

I could chuck those cast T/C's in my lathe and contour the bottoms. Will make it work.

Seller says:

" Comes with a Dixie Sharps Rifle breech loading powder measure tool and long pivoting funnel tube combination ~ to use at your shooting range in-place of making / loading paper cartridges"

Like to see how that works.

What bubba said and congratulations, Pat! Also, I think I'd sell that mold on EBay rather than trade it, unless you find a spectacular mold for that rifle.

Never owned a 59 sharps and I've been reading that they don't fire BP substitutes.

Anyone have any info on that? Reason is, I'm in California and I can't be trusted with Black Powder. Even though my dad would buy me a can of Dupont for my Bday every year when I was as young as 8, and we made all kinds of street pyrotechnics, mushroom smoke clouds, Blowing coffee cans in the sky, etc... I can non longer be trusted.

So I all I have on hand is Triple 7. Will these sharps fire Triple 7? Read some where they fire with rifle primers as caps.
