it is supposed to have some copper in it. nobody around here seems to have regular 95/5.
what do you guys recommend, use solder to get tin & antimony or just get some tin?
I do have some "hard shot" to alloy with to help harden the mix.

Sometimes you can find cheap or damaged pewter items and those are mostly tin. There is a thread about it here somewhere. I found a couple of pounds cheap that way at resale shops.

Sorry not familiar with Safe-Flo.

I generally just add tin as I don't have a cheap source for antimony and don't need it for most of what I cast. When I've made up some Lyman #2 alloy, I bought super hard from Rota for the antimony.

I'm sure the Safe-flo will work fine, but $23.66 seems awfully expensive for tin. I'd check the classifieds here for something cheaper.

I have bought tin on eBay, paying $10/LB, delivered. Ten pounds of 50/50 solder (equaling 5 lbs Sn) gets a bid of $50, delivered. Same for 60/40 or 30/70. Won't pay more, have paid less.

Pewter has 85 -90% Sn ... so why not just going shopping at the good will stores? Or shop eBay ...
