OK I am shooting a cast 30-30 no gas check, 183 grain bullet. I have a load in the old Lyman for 173 and 190 grain. Is there a general rule here? Can I use the 190 grain load with the lighter bullet and have safe pressures, or should i use the 173 load with the 183 bullet?

Love this group thanks all!

Generally, you can always use data for the heavier bullet, so long as your bullet doesn't seat deeper into the case.

That was not a very detailed description of the boolit…Most important, does it have a round nose or large flat meplat? Do you know why I ask?

"The heavier the boolit......the lighter the load." Check any load data book and see.

You are OK using loads for heavier boolits with lighter boolits. Just watch seating.

More info on the boolit is definitely needed as said! We like lots of info on here.

Always check FOR YOURSELF any load data received from any forum B4 using. Common sense rules.
