Hi guys,
My latest project is trying to get a 7mm-08 and 7mmtcu to shoot lead.
the Tcu will be in a tc contender(that should be here tomorrow.) I'm wondering how fast is too fast for liquid alox lube. The bullet is the LEE 7mm with gascheck. Is 2000fps too much to ask of this lube? I'm hoping to use aircooled or quenched wheelweights for my alloy.
Thanks,
Dan

2,300 works for me. That is about as fast as I have tried in my 222 with a 45 gr boolit.

Dan,

There is no real upper ceiling because the problem is not velocity, but pressure. So your next question is where is the pressure limit. Well, that still has too many variables to answer. Some guys curse the limit is 800 fps. So you can see it works for some people better than others.

What you need to do any time you change any variable is to drop way low and come up.

I got 2540fps out of the new 311440 gang mold for my 30-30 the other day with a double dipped alox water quenched wheel weights bullet. Accuracy was OK, but not stupendous. Got good accuracy up to 2200fps. 3.5 inches at 2540fps. I can get 2400 easily with a 290gr. bullet out of a 444. Alox will work if you lube twice.
