I'm self employed for my main income , the farm is my second income/job and my night job is at a shooting Academy so I never ever leave my house of walk around the property unarmed. If I gotta go somewhere like court I have a lock box bolted to the truck. If I have to go to my daughters school I park in the park n ride and walk in the only two places I go except post office and I park across the street lock them up. Point is if I'm awake I'm armed how bout ya'll?

We have constitutional carry in this state which doesn't apply to me at work....being an employee of the state government that only makes sense right.

Chances are if I'm not at work I have something on me.

Armed 24-7 unless going into restricted zone, Court House, P.O., Hospital, V.A., but even then the cane is with me and makes a nice defensive weapon against most threats.

100% off the property where I live, about 50/50 on the property, if I am working outside, I carry, inside the house it goes by the nightstand and there are others placed in spots where we spend most indoor time, computer desk, office, etc. I still have an under the bench top mount for a Mossberg 500A that used to reside there when my shop was open to the public. These days it stays leaned in a closet that is easy to reach with 8rds in the mag and an empty chamber. I don't think I am being paranoid, but you can NEVER be TOO prepared!

My rule of thumb is if I'm not naked or in scrubs I carry. Scrubs won't support the weight of a gun and guns are banned most places you wear scrubs anyway.

It's not a matter of IF I am armed, but rather a matter of HOW. And not even my girlfriend of several years knows all the details of the HOW, so if she doesn't get to know, neither does anyone else.

I don't go where I can't carry, even go to Drs that don't post. Around the house there are plenty of guns in the proper places & since I train working dogs getting to one before my dogs eat the bad guy is probably a toss up. I do carry on my property but more because I don't want me or the dogs to get bit by the GD ^^&^%^&*( copperheads!

It's sure a shame how SD has changed. It used to be a conservative stronghold & in fact, I got my first Concealed carry permit there in 69 or 70.

Walked in, filled out a page, paid my 5 or 10 $ & got it in a couple weeks. Any gun, & I can't even remember that there were any restrictions except the usual, court house etc.

Have you been there recently? MCRD is still pretty recognizable, but I recognized very few things at what is left of the Navy NTC/RTC. What's left of the few buildings still around at the old RTC look nothing like they used to look, especially on the inside.

Havn't been there since my Dads funeral in 04. My last duty stations there were tanks at Camp Elliott & recruiting in Escondido. Guess they have consolidated a lot to the old NAS Miramar. I only went back to MCRD a couple times after I got back from VN to visit a friend when I was down to see my parents in Spring Valley from MCAF Santa Ana.

Hate that hot, dry, no trees, no rain area & didn't miss it a lick.

Good question. Very Good. When...how often....where....good.

I am in Texas. We, as of 1/1/16 won open carry. We won concealed a few years after a state senators Mom and Dad were murdered in a Luby's cafeteria on a Sunday afternoon by a paroled felon. Carrying a pistol in Texas was 'illegal' before all this. There were 'defenses' if sited for carrying, but, you had to go to court and defend yourself. Not so long guns.

So, when do I carry? I obtained a Concealed Carry permit as soon as they came out. Even now, in Texas, we have to have a CCP for open carry. We, and Senator Cruz are working on this.

I see, and believe, it is my DUTY, to carry all the time. I have several carry arms. Some fit in my boot, some on my hip, some under my shoulder.

In Texas, a store proprietor can ask that you not OPEN or CONCEAL carry in his privately own store. Some do. Some say OK,,concealed is good but OPEN is bad. Legally, it is up to them. Here in San Antonio, I like HEB food stores. They are OK with concealed carry and not OK with OPEN carry. Same with COSTCO and TARGET stores. So,,, I now buy my food and dry goods at WALMART and my GAS at SAM's as they say OK to open carry.

Here, I make my statement with my feet and my money. I don't go to HEB and make a nasty scene with my shoulder holster 45. I just go to WALMART and they are all cool. Once in a while the Walmart store manager asks to see my CCP and I quickly and politely comply. I show him my CCP as he is concerned as he sells alcohol. And yes, I generally have some brewzkies in my basket.

Again, I open carry now alot more. I don't 'carry' in the house as my firearms are in arms reach.

Your question has sparked a question to me of me. "What will happen if I open carry at my church". I have a 380 in my boot at mass. But, i have never put my 45 Long Colt on my hip and walked in.

Good Question. Am continuing to ask it of myself.

Well, if you saw what they looked like *now*, you really would have the "willies". I went inside a couple that were open when I was last there and it looked like something you would expect from the abandoned buildings in Detroit. Well, minus the gang markings.

The whole NTC base in Point Loma has been redeveloped into the Liberty Station complex with shops, restaurants and micro breweries. The old parade ground still exists as well as that training ship that sits in the dirt next to Harbor Island Drive "USS Recruit". The buildings have all been refurbished or rebuilt, and still keep the same architecture as the old base from the outside. I go there occasionally to visit my favorite fly fishing shop.

Never! Like Baja Traveler I have a Sheriff that doesn't want me armed. He was LAPD prior to being elected Sheriff. Meanwhile 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has had a case that would give Baja , myself and lots of others the right to carry for self defence. 3 judge panel said we had the right. That decision was vacated and 11 judges held a hearing in June 2015. 8 months later and still no decision. I am suspicious that they are having trouble refuting the original majority decision. It was well thought out and well documented and has been cited in other districts. Consensus is that regardless of the final decision it will be appealed to the Supreme Court. Would like the 11 reaffirm the decision of 3 before it goes to the Supremes. Given what is going on the Supremes may not want to take it on now. It would be nice to have a decision that would require big city Sheriffs issue CC permits to citizens who want to defend themselves. In the meantime I don't go where I have to defend myself from big kitties with a #4 weight fly rod. As an aside We don't want our Attorney General on the Supreme Court. She is one of the reason "Peralta" went before the en banc panel.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/business-owner-requiring-all-employees-be-armed/nqWHn/

GRIFFIN, Ga. —
A local business owner with several offices in Georgia is now requiring all of his employees to get a concealed carry license and be armed.

After each employee at Lance Toland Associates gets their license, Toland presents them with a gun known as the judge. He says it is one of the most effective self-defense weapons and all his aviation insurance agencies carry them openly in the office.

Everybody has one of these in their drawer or on their person. I would not want to come into one of my facilities,” Toland said. “It's a 5 shot .410, just like a shotgun and you call it hand cannon.”

Toland said after hearing about recent home invasions and violent crime in the metro Atlanta area, he came up with the new office mandate.

“They all had their conceal carry permit within 3 to 4 weeks of me announcing that this was something you had to do,” he said. “With the presentation of their license, they all got a 4/10 judge pistol.”

Toland told Channel 2’s Craig Lucie he did it out of concern for his employees’ safety.

“I have a number of offices and most of my employees are women,” he says.

Toland has offices in Griffin, St. Simons Island and Atlanta where they insure aircrafts worldwide.

Agent Andrea Van Buren said the mandate is a great idea for other companies, if employees agree to several things.
“As long as they are willing to get the training, become an expert and if you pull it out, you have to be ready to use it,’ she said.

Toland says several high-profile business owners who have private planes he insures may follow his lead.
“A lot of my clients are high fiving when they hear this. They think it's the best things for a company to mandate gun ownership and be responsible,” he said.

Yeah, I spent some time there driving around and going in some of the shops / buildings. The funny thing though was that I don't remember any of it from back then. I'm sure it must have been there, but I don't remember any of it. I also don't remember ever seeing the "USS Recruit" when I was in boot camp. I was not able to find any building that looked like the barracks that I was in while in BE/E school, nor the school itself. It was just *strange* being there, knowing that I had been stationed there after boot camp, but not really recognizing anything. :(

OWB has retention mechanism

I know that some OWB have retention mechanisms, but there are various types of them and I wasn't sure what type he had on that holster. For some, it's a lever that you press with your finger, so if you try to draw without pressing it, you would get that same sort of stuck and then try again action if you forgot about it.

Almost never. I've had my CHL for decades, but just don't like the responsibility of carrying. We live in a pretty safe area, and if I'm not at home or work I'm out with the family in safe family friendly environments where I've never felt the need to carry.

Mind you, I'm not knocking any of you all who pack daily. I freely admit that you may be more correct in your thinking. There have been times in recent years where I'll read something in the news that makes me wonder if I should carry more often even though I don't like it.

A gun is like a fire extinguisher. It may sit there for decades or even a lifetime never used, but the one time you do need it, you need it right now and there is no substitute.

Chances are if I'm not at work I have something on me.

I'm in the same boat with constitutional carry here in Arizona, except that I work and live on an Army installation - my job is maintaining all the weapons that we use for testing. But of course, I can't legally carry a weapon. Whenever I'm off-post, unless I have to go to the local Marine base (the same restrictions apply there), I'm normally carrying.

I have multiple hidden and loaded handguns in my little tin trailer here in Vegas. When I emerge into the real world I am always armed and I usually also carry additional fully charged magazines as well for my favorite carry Browning Hi Power 9 MM. I also have another 3 charged magazines in my truck along with 3 boxes of 50 IMI Hollow Pointed 9 MM's under the front seat. On the floor in the back, under a blanket, lives a 12 Gauge SxS with a bandolier of 50 rounds of a variety of fodder for the Baker. However the chamber are empty as I do not trust the safety on this 1920's relic and a chambered round in a long gun in a vehicle is a no no here in Nevada. I also keep two boxes of 25 in the console compartment for the scattergun.

It wasn't long ago in the Commonwealth of Pa obtaining a ccwp was difficult. Political more like it. Had to know somebody to get one. I get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing there are others around carrying as well. I carry concealed 100% of the time where legal. I open carry 100% of the time on my property inside and out.
