Just received this gem so adding it to the herd. Euro Arms 1861 Springfield. I haven't taken the barrel off to look for a date code but the gent I got it from said he bought it new many years ago. He fired 25 shots through it and put it away in the safe where it's been ever since. It is in very nice condition having only a bit of age patina on the buttplate and trigger guard. Came with a bunch of minie balls and caps. Now to wait for some nice weather! Funny thing is there's now a nice original 1861 Springfield in shootable condition for sale on one of our forums. Hmmmm!!

The only problem I have with the Springfield is the rear sight is too close for me to be able to see it well. I prefer the 1853 Enfield, as the rear sight is farther down the barrel. Just my eyes.

You have a beautiful Springfield!

Nice wood. Some people, myself included like the aged look.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I like the look that time gives as well and that is why I'm not going to try and polish the trigger guard or buttplate.

Good looking rifle! I was looking for one of those when I had an 1866 barreled action to restock. Never found one and use a Mississippi rifle instead.
