My MIL whose name is Zada needs.some prayers. She got cellulitis infection and then was found Monday morning at the old folks home completely unresponsive. The diagnosis is pneumonia, but she is way out of whack in her mind, which they cannot explain yet. She cant complete a sentence, talks nonsense and is seeing things (we think). We are hoping a transfusion and maybe dialysis will get her mind right but it is very scary.

I would really appreciate some prayers for Zada, my SO Lynda and her sister Debbie. Their Dad died of pneumonia about 11 years ago so of course they are worried bad and the mind thing is very bothersome. She doesnt have dementia and is normally very sharp so that is scary. I believe unequivocally in prayer and would appreciate the offers.

Many thanks
Mark

Don't be surprised if they find she has a rip-roarin' kidney or bladder infection. With everything else, the docs could easily overlook such a problem. My m.i.l. Went through what you'redescibing a couple of years ago, except she has dementia, and it all made her completely batty! Prayers going up.

Thank you one and all. Just got home. Cardiologist came in after I left. HIS diagnosis is no pneumonia, but she has a heart valve issue. I didnt speak to him so dont know exactly what that is, but they are going to do a stress test tomorrow to see if she is even a candidate for heart surgery.

So it seems we have gone from serious to damned serious. Keep the prayers comin fellahs. I believe in their power with all my heart.

Thank you and God bless you all

We will keep you all in our prayers.

My wife and I have gone through such things with three of our parents. We still have her 94 y.o. mother in Assisted Living. As fixit it pointed out . . . do not over look the possibility of a UTI. We have had similar incidents with my M-in-law and while you have a cardiologist and perhaps other specialists involved - they are specialists who are mainly concerned with any findings associated with their speciality. Insist that they cover all the bases which includes a test for UTI etc. as these can often cause many symptoms in an older person. It is something that can be easily tested for and is we'll worth "ruling out".

OK update: No UTI. No pneumonia. She had a couple of heart tests and determined there is no blockage (yeay ) but the aortic valve (let's blood out of the heart) is not working properly. Not detained if she is a candidate for surgery which would be through leg vein (not open chest) but we have to talk to primary Dr & Cardiologist later tonight. If she cannot do the surgery the Cardiologist told us yesterday she would have about 2 years to live. Keep the prayers coming. I will keep you posted.
Thank you and God bless you

Prayers for her and the whole family. These things hit really hard, and nobody's ever "ready" for them.

Joining in a bit late, will keep her and the family in my prayers. Was hoping the dementia was fever related, sounds like a neuro consult is in order.

Update: Sent MeMe home yesterday unexpectedly. Her mental status is better today. She remembers almost nothing about her 6 days in the hospital. She has an appointment to see a cardiologist Tuesday to basically see if she is a candidate for heart surgery.

Doing some more research her mental state and some physical issues could be related to advancing kidney failure. Due to Diabetes and age she has known kidney weakness for some time but it may be getting worse. She may soon have to start dialysis which with any continued or recurring altered mental state would be cause for a higher level of care, i.e. skilled nursing.

MeMe would hate this. It means leaving all her friends for a hospital room like setting - sharing a room - and no little apartment. The cardiologist will not make a referral to an endocrinologist (kidney Dr) so we have to find one of those too. Sadly it seems she is just breaking down.

Your prayers are all very appreciated. I strongly believe in their power. Thank you one and all for doing so. Its not over yet and I remain hopeful of good news and a good outcome.

May God bless each of you and all of yours too
Mark
