I was fishing on the Black River on the White Mtn Apache Res here in Az. for smallmouth bass. There was an eagle that showed up near me and seemed to be unhappy that I was there. I was into a school of smaller bass, probably around 10" so I tossed one up on the bank and that eagle swooped down and took off with it. About 5 to 10 minutes later it was back and let out a screech as it flew over me. I threw another bass up on the bank, but this one was around 15" and fat. That eagle flew down to it and killed it then took off with it no problem.
The are amazing birds and it was great to see one so close. I could feel the breeze the wings made when it took off with the last fish. I forgot to tell my son about it and the next day he was on the same stretch of river and the eagle was flying over the area but my son did not catch any fish for it. We had a good laugh that night when he told me about the eagle!

That eagle was definitely determined to keep that fish. Must of had young ones to feed.

Wow, worked up an appetite getting that fish to shore. Adapt and overcome, good job!
