I am lusting over the 174g .360 mold in the group buy, but which one to get:confused:

I have a Marlin 336 micro groove and a T/C contender pistol with normal rifling, both are .35 Remington and I have about 4,600 horny-d .35 gas checks on hand ($5/K what could I do but grab them?)

I haven't loaded any true rifle rounds with cast bullets before but I think I will want both plain base and GC'd bullets.

So can GC bullets be fired without checks installed?

Which mold will be more useful? Getting both is hard to justify.

I tried using some GC boolits without the GC a few weeks ago. The groups went from 3” to off the paper.

I don't recall ever trying .35 cal. boolits without gas checks. I get acceptable results in 6mm and .30 rifles using GC designs without the checks, but only in light plinking loads with a few grains of Red Dot or Unique to give velocities down in .22 rimfire territory.
