TC Maxi Hunter mold question

I know, another TC bullet mold thread, sorry in advance! But I'm super curious about another thing I just found, I just recently bought a 54 cal Maxi Hunter mold from a forum member and Ive noticed the pin inside this mold is pointed to a sharp point (the one that makes the little hollow point) the pictures I've seen of them show that pin to have a smooth round shape that makes the hollow point. Can you guys with the maxi Hunter molds open them up and take a look at the pin, is it sharply pointed or is it rounded? I just bought a brand new one with the package on eBay, in the pictures the pin is rounded, did TC make different shape pins for the Maxi Hunter? It would have been very easy to do, Just curious guys

As you can see in the picture I just posted the pin that makes the little hollow point has a sharp point to it, the pin on the brand new one in the package I just got on eBay appears to have a smooth rounded point to it. Again not that it matters I'm just curious what your guys Maxi Hunter molds have? Sharp pointed pin, or smooth round pin?

Mine is smooth and round and the blocks are anodized black.

The one I just purchased off eBay this morning looks black anodized as well, it is brand new, the guy opened the package to take better pics of the mold, the package and paperwork come with the mold, and the center pin appears to be smooth rounded as well. TC must have made a different center pin at one time for the Maxi Hunter Mold? I'm fairly confident the mold I have in this picture is a TC Maxi Hunter Mold? Unless someone else made a mold like the Maxi Hunter?

I might have deciphered this? The pic in post #6 is a brand new TC Maxi Hunter Mold that just now showed up on eBay from the same seller I bought the .54 cal maxi Hunter mold from this morning, EXCEPT this one is a .50 cal mold and as you can see it has the pointed pin in it, the last pic I posted is a 54 cal mold and is identical to the one I just bought this morning, and you can see it has the rounded pin in it. My guess is the pins are the exact same size and can be swapped from either 50 or 54 cal molds

I have only seen rounded ones on other HP moulds and that one looks like it doesn't go as deep either. Looks to me like someone replaced/made either a lost one or wanted to modify it.

I'm fairly confident that it's a factory thing and not modified, I don't know this for positive but I'd wager a bet. The second picture I posted is a brand new TC Maxi Hunter mold, the guy took it out of the package to get better pics of it (kinda dumb I guess?) the package is in the other photos on eBay, you can see it has the sharp pointed pin, that is a factory TC bullet mold in .50 cal, My bet stands that the .54 cals had rounded pins, but could easily be swapped from .50 to 54 and vise versa

Those last 2 photos are of the actual mold I just bought off eBay this morning, not sure why the pics turned sideways? Anyway it clearly shows the rounded pin, definately different than the one in post #2 that I bought from a forum member.

Even the nose of the cavities look different from the one i own in post #2 and the mold I just bought this morning in post #11, i wont know for sure til it gets here. Like I said before it doesn't matter to me, it's just seems odd that TC made changes over the years, to not only the maxi ball but the Hunter as well, at least it appears they did

I got the brand new old stock TC Maxi Hunter mold yesterday, I set it beside the one I got from the forum member here and sure enough it's totally different, and not just the pin, the cavities are obviously different, mostly in the nose. So from what I can tell Thompson Center (Shiloh or Ohaus) made 2 different shaped Maxi balls, as well as 2 different Maxi hunters. I'm not at all complaining, I was just hoping to find out as much info as I could, when they changed? Was there a reason why? Etc. but very little info to be found.

Here they are side by side, and a pic of the brand new one in the package that I just received, one has a round shaped hollow point pin, and the other one has the sharp pointed pin, and as you can obviously see the bullet is totally different!!

Hun, my mould is 25 years or more and the HP pin is rounded
