I think it might be for cast iron cooking gear but have looked around and can't find anything like it.

Anyone seen anything like it?

The curve goes the wrong way for a lid lifter. I think it holds some type of hinged lid open.
A damper or lid support? Maybe for a smoker or a fireplace?
