About a year ago I got a hold of a box of molds and a 45 lube sizer. One of the molds was a 225438. 22 cal 44 gr. Never thought I would use it until a 22K Hornet fell into my hands. Today I set up my pot and loaded it with 13 lb's of 7 to 2 WW-Lino. Don't know what I was thinking. 13 lb. goes a long way on a 44 gr boolit. The mold cast like a dream. No sticking and after casting I weighed and sorted them out. 99.9% weighed 45.4 to 45.6 gr.
To make a great casting day story short. I cast over 1200 boolits. Got tired and emptied the pot. I had 3 lb's left over. Now will the K shoot ? lol I'm tired. :Fire:

I glad to hear that old mold functioned well. The older Lyman Iron molds usually do. How you gonna lube them ? Gas check ?

Jon, I think I might PC them. If I can find a bit to drill my plates for the check diameter . Might try some lube also to compare . I have a good supply of Hornady checks.

That's really cool. Just curious, how many cores in a mold like that?

What kind of cannon are you going to shoot them in? I'm partial to the Super 14" TC in 223. I've got an old single cavity 225415 it drops a 42 gr pill and newer 225415 double cavity that drops 55 gr pills. They shoot great through the 14" TC.

45-70 ,, I got a Contender 21" carbine barrel from a friend. I should have enough boolits for a long while . lol I sold a black powder rifle the other day and kept the scope. It is an old Redfield 3X9 wideview. Should be just the trick for the Contender next squirrel season. Might check it out on a coyote or two next summer.

I find that it's much easier to cast nice .22 bullets then it is to get them shooting good, I usually have to hold the speed down.

I have a 21" also but I have only shot j- words in it. I have religated the 14" to cast. I really like shooting those little cast pills.

MT Chamber I have found that if I keep the velocity under 2000 fps my accuracy holds.pretty good. It's pretty much like shooting 22 mag, and a lot cheaper. Less than $5.00 a 100.
