I purchashed a used lee 10 lb pot. Cleaned it and lapped the rod and seat. Built a Pid temperature controller. After looking all over and at all the thrift stores, I ordered a hot plate off Amazon. It came today. Spent the afternoon outside. Put a saw blade on the burner and cut 1/3 off a coffee can to put over the mold. Started the pot at 700. A lot of wrinkles. Raised it to 730. Still some wrinkles and striking to the HP pins on the mold. I am pouring 45-230 gr hp with a NOE mold. Ran the temp up to 750. Started pouring excellent booklits. Ended up with 122 in my container. Glad I waited until I had everything to do it right.

Sounds like you have it going your way. Yea, those pins need to get up to temp to act right for sure. It's on after that.
