Let's keep this to the point. I use FFG 777 in 50 cal muzzleloaders. I got a bunch of stuff from my brother, (he likes to buy stuff from the clearance rack). So now I have some loose FFFG (3FG 777).

How does the 3F compare to the 2F when used in 50 cal front loader ?

Thanks,

Motor

Side by side per volume, a tad bit hotter. By weight 'bout the same. Should be just fine. Google 777 powder and check out their site.

Thanks Knarley. I have no problem finding information but it's always good to get some real feed back too. :)

I read to use less fffg 777 than Ffg777 because it’s more powerful and you can get more in the case. They said decrease by 15% to be safe. This says to me to use a filler then. But not too much. Be careful with your old guns.

What about using less pyrodex than black 2ffg. I used a full case rather 77 grains by volume of 2ffg t-7 and my antique was OK. Would the same be true with pyrodex? Ha, try it. But 3fffg t-7 in my antique Mauser 1871 I’m kind of afeared. I have to keep the pressure down to 18000 or so. I don’t like light loads with filler.
