Is there a Top-Punch out there for the Lee 230 gr. blackout bullet? I have ordered the mold and have been looking thru my "bag of tricks", but can't seem to find one that may fit that bullet. I am thinking one of the old Lyman or RCBS top punches may fill the bill, but I'm not sure which one. Thanks everyone; this is a great forum!...........................

The one for the Lyman 311679 or the RCBS 200 silhouette, or the 311407 seem to work fine for me.

Thanks so much for your help! I haven't gotten the mold yet, but I want to get everything ready. I acquired an old .30 caliber military rifle with a 1/9" twist and I want to try to blow that slug out of it at 1800-1900 fps. 600 yds.; here we come..........................

Don't forget , if a top punch doesn't fit the boolits nose exactly as is, you can use a small ball of epoxy putty to custom fit that nose shape perfectly. I've bought several top punch's that were supposed to fit Lee moulds, they almost fit but not really. Epoxy putty made them a perfect fit.

Great Post! DIY is often times the way to go.

If you shoot subsonic, you can tumble lube in Ben's Liquid Lube twice and get by without greasing the lube grooves. I don't know if you can hit your velocity target without a gas check. With a gas check, I shoot 2x BLL to 1700 in 30-30 and 308

I'm planning on using a gas-check. I measured the gas check shanks on several of my bullets and they seem to average about .285. I may have to chuck it up in my lathe bore it up to .285. The drawing that Lee has on there sight shows a dimension of .279 at the very base of the bullet. I hope this boolit will stabilize in the 1/9' twist of my old rifle. Until Lee came along with boolit, shooting lead at 600 yds. was just a pipe dream; maybe it still is!.............................

As Noe just did a run of the improved design, he has top punches available.
