I went out this morning for opening day of primitive weapons deer season here in Georgia. Didn't see any deer of course, but a boar hog wandered by. Downed him at 8 yards with my .50 cal Optima Pro. It had a tag in each ear (the number 26). Auburn University has been trapping hogs in this area for study. Guess they'll have to do without this particular specimen.

CB used was a Lyman 429244 in a sabot. I hit the hog just behind the head from above as it was walking towards my tree. The bullet angled back through the heart and lodged under the hide on the chest. The bullet had tumbled, but perfomed very well. Even a decent mushroom. The weight as cast is 260 gns with WW alloy. The recovered bullet weighed 252 grns

(100 grains 777 pellets)

Now that meets the definition of bringing home the bacon.
