Well I finally got a chance today to shoot the boolits I cast awhile ago.

All I can say Is Damn,[smilie=w: I may never shoot jacketed bullets again. Either I got real lucky or these things shoot alot better than I expected. I'm shooting a 15" Encore in 30.06 with Lee C309-180-R gas checked bullets lubed with LLA over 25gn IMR 4198 seated to the crimping groove just as a starting point and they shot at just under 1.5" at 50 yards with a 5 shot group I am seriously impressed, I guess now I have to get down to some serious load devlopment .

Thank you much to those who gave me some most excellent adivce it is greatly appreciated.:drinks:

I am now HOOKED and will have to cast more often.

..............Randy, sure am glad to hear your results for the first range trip was a positive one. Your load is a good general purpose one. My favorite load in my Springfield is 23.0 H4198 and the Ly 311284 for 1650 fps. With 25grs it runs 1775 fps.

If you have the chance, you should pickup Lee's Soup Can. The C309-113F. It can be very accurate over light chagres of fast powder. If you do get it, you should also give it a whorl over 22.0 grs of 4198. As a matter of fact they're running a 6 cavity group buy for that boolit right now.
