Just wondering if anyone has tried of using a MMP sub base or a sabot with petals cut off as a gas seal with a grease groove or paperpatched bullet?

that would be the hard way, just get in bulk some 60 thousands thick hard fiber or poly wads from buffalo arms or track of the wolf. they seal perfectly and completely. never ever had a gas leak with them.

I use a .060 poly wads from buffalo arms and a paperpatch bullet and that shoots well but I've never seen any bare bullets shoot nearly as well (even with a poly wad) with the exception of powerbelts - so using a sub base or cut down sabot & a grease groove bullet would be a "poor man's powerbelt"
