Was working up some new loads for the .222, and I had some .44 mag loads to Chronograph. Since I had everything set up I figured might as well see how fast Power pistol was pushing the 9MM loads that I had just done. Second round from the 9 and the chrony jumped......

Took it inside to start surgery, while I was making plans to order a new Lab Radar unit. Found that the slug had passed through the front sky screen case, and was stopped by the 9 Volt Battery.

Cleaned all the junk out of the case, and put in a new battery. To my surprise if fired up and still works!! I have had this unit for about twenty years, and have fired thousands of rounds over it, So it is like an old friend.

Here is a picture of the offender.......

Me too, and to punish that naughty pistol, feed it about 3 boxes of plain box commercial rounds!!

Dang Jack, that seems kind of harsh; it didn't really kill the chrony, just wounded it.

Not a member of the club, yet.

I have only shot the supports, which is why I switched to the wooden dowels. Does that qualify or do you need a full blown shot tothe screen?

That sounds like a lack of gun control, but not the PC kind.
If using wooden dowels to replace the aluminum qualifies, I'm a long time member. It began before I had a crony of my own.

A .30 Tokarev took mine out this spring. Bullet went full length and came out the other side and hit the target.

Looks like you dodged the bullet on this one, lol. I'm looking forward to upgrading my chrony setup someday but so far I haven't joined the club, mine's 20+ yrs old as well.

An now we know a 9mm will penetrate a couple inches, so the neighbor can now sleep better.LOL

Because of my hits to the support rods, I would bring a piece of stiff paper/cardboard that I would place where my shots were supposed to go between my electrical tape markers on the rods. I would grab the closest led sighting guage I had and try and estimate where I was aiming in relation to the chrony. Worked when I had something close in guage and not many people at the range.

Welcome
Been there, done that, and have the "T" shirt
Mike

p.s. I use plastic soda straws for the support rods NOW

I've nicked a support rod with a .45-70 once. Didn't take much to bend it right back though. I prefer shooting on cloudy days so that I don't need to put up the sky screens / support rods.

157259My old Chrony took a 45 round it did not live guess it is the old 9mm vs. 45 all over again!
I should have know better was shooting without guide in place that unit uses the cardboard guides new unit does work better.

I've never hit one yet but my old one looked like I had tried to drown it in boolit lube.
