Loaded these up last August. Lube should be Ben's Red, but might be Lithi-Bee. I shot most of them at some point, then put the rest of this container in the back of the safe. Took it out today and this is what I found:
156666

It is a white, crystalline powder, not unlike battery corrosion. It is possible they got wet at the range, but I don't believe so.

Pull 'em or shoot 'em? and what would cause this to happen in the confines of a safe? (Safe is inside the house, not in a garage, btw.)

I'd tumble/wipe them w some laquer thinner and see how good they clean up and then decide. I'd probably shoot them all after cleaning up, myself.

looks like they got a little wet.
I'd wipe em down with a little solvent on a rag too then just shoot them.

ok, thanks all. I can't day for sure that they got rain on them, but the date I loaded them was 8/29 which means they were shot in September. And this is Florida so the odds of rain in September is high. I'll just hit them with a rag and solvent. I guess the worst that can happen is they go phffffft instead of bang.

Make sure it is not lead oxide, you don't want to breath any.
I was given many boolits and balls for ML's that even the plastic bags are full of the stuff. Some lubes like those used on ML boolits will cause lead to oxide. Bore Butter is one. It also dries out.

Interesting, 44man. Any reason to think that either Ben's Red or Lithi-Bee would do that? I would think both would be good for long term storage in a climate controlled environ. Thoughts?

No, I don't think so but the alloy might. Just what are the boolits cast from?

With the bullet's loaded to the crimp grove, the only part I would think might hurt the barrel is that thin ring of lead at the top of the shank, the nose is tapered from there and won't touch the bore. I'd maybe just wipe the stuff with some 0000 steel woll and shoot them.

Those were COWW.

Most of the ones that looked clean in the picture had some corrosion on the bottom. Lends itself to the water theory.

I have to go with moisture too.
