Wet here but the bad storms were elsewhere. We needed the rain though.

Had to take our daughter to DFW International Airport yesterday....had to go through Rowlette and you could not imagine the damage we saw from the tornado....took 2hr 40 minutes for a normal 1-3/4 hour trip.....on our return home we go 10" of rain and couldnt get home...had to stay in the motel....7 cars got burglarized, not our vehicle. Finally got home to the dogs, cats, cows, and horses....all ok but Mrs. Buckwheatpaul was a nervous wreck at not being able to get home.....fire in the fireplace all animals fed and all is right....thanks for the concerns.....Paul

I heard 9 tornadoes were reported in the DFW area and 11 were killed, I can't imagine the damage caused.
I know we have a few members that live right in the DFW area that I'd like to hear from, to make sure they are okay.

I live about 140 miles due east of Dallas. The Rowlett/Garland tornado was an EF4...devastation is unbelievable. Sunday we had two tornadoes form SW of my residence. One landed about 6 miles NE of my home. Today it was rated an EF2. Luckily it came down in a rural area although several homes were destroyed along with barns, outbuilding etc...at least one horse was killed. The damage covered 4 square miles. After the second moved out we had a downright flood for several hours. Temp at 4:45 PM Sunday when the first tornado formed was 81 degrees today it was 35 degrees. My Prayers for all effected.

I live near the dfw area. We had monsoon style rain and wind but i slept thru most of it. No tornados touched down in this area that i know of and i havent seen the damage in places that did. Lots of very swollen creeks and lakes and flooded fields though. I live in a mobile home in the middle of a field so i thsnk god none touched down here. I can do without a impromptu late night flight.

It was very different on the west side of the panhandle. We officially had about 15" of snow but it was very windy. On open flat areas the snow was only 2"-4" deep but the drifts were 4 to 8 feet high. This was just outside my house.

Went a few miles east of us, bout 1/4 mile from friends home, no damage there. We got -7" of rain, no high winds. Damage was mostly I30 & GBW, curfew in effect there and a real mess to clean up due to cold weather and rain. If you got hit it was bad. Skipped 2 lakes in the way out of the county.

One of my buddies lost his home in Rowlette. Thank God that's all he lost.

Numbers I heard were 12 total tornadoes, some EF3 and EF4. Last count I heard on fatalities is 11. Yes, it was about as bad as it gets around here. Thousands of buildings damaged, hundreds of homes destroyed. A bit of damage around here but I haven't seen my place in daylight yet. Electric smoker got blown off the table and destroyed but I'm not complaining.

Thanks Popper, at this point no. He and his 2 daughters moved in with his brother for the interim.

We were in Grand Praire while that was going on. Heavy winds, but nothing abnormal where we were at. One of my wifes old school friends however lives close to Garland. The only thing left of his house was the hallway that his family was sheltering in.

Thank you for thinking about all of us during the uneasy times.

I am in Grand Prairie and my daughter attends college in Commerce. The tornado's were between the two locations and I am thankful that she was home for the holidays when the bad weather hit.
