Ok I can tear down and rebuild just about anything mechanical. Electrical wiring not an issue. Electronics not a clue.

So here is the idea,

I have a couple of old Radio Shack #49-208 PIR's from years ago when I was going to build some game cams. I did build a couple of cameras but don't have any of the paperwork relating to those anymore. I DO however have this link to the PIR I have, Radio Shack 49-208 PIR (http://support.radioshack.com/productinfo/DocumentResults.asp?sku_id=49-208&Name=Security%20Accessories&Reuse=N)

I DO however still have a bunch of electronic components that I used and figured these would be necessary as well. I have a couple of 555 thingy's and other such tiny parts, resistors and plenty of wire, solder and such.

My goal is to build two hog lights which to bolt on the bottom of my deer feeders to allow the grandsons to get out and go for the hogs at night. Seems that is the only time they are obliged to come out and eat, and tear up the ground under my feeders.

The lights I will be using are ultra bright LED's just like these,
Ultra Bight LEDS (http://www.ebay.com/itm/5630-3LED-SMD-Module-Injection-Waterproof-LED-Strip-Light-Sign-Storefront-DC-12V-/301672816953?var=&hash=item463d19e139:m:msHCP1uwc0wrmpNma6fPFTQ)

I also have solar chargers for the rechargeable 12v batteries.

The issue is, I know this is stupid easy to put together, but sometimes a mechanical mind just doesn't jive with electronics.

If someone might feel up to drawing a simple one line schematic I would be more than appreciative as wold the grandkids. We have game cam shots of some running upwards of 200'ish pounds and they ain't showing themselves in the daylight.

I thought that with the motion detector it would trigger the lights and having some sort of timer in the circuit I would keep it on for maybe 10-15 minutes or as long as they were under it feeding and tripping the detector anyway.

Of course it will take them a couple of days to get used to it but after that it will be a regular event right up until the rifle goes off. Hopefully that too will be a little more regular as well.

Anyway if someone has the smarts and feels up to it I can sure use and appreciate the help.

Thanks

I have some of the old RS IR motion detectors but I use them for game radios I built.

instead of lightning them up and risk spooking them, they just radio back to me if they are at a bait location.

I have setup landscape lights (solar) at bait locations that are enough light to get cross hairs on a target but they go on at dusk and off a dawn so again not going on and off to spook the animals.

That said if you have two people one with a rifle, the other with a spotlight, that will work too.

If your dead set on a motion/timed DC light send me a PM with your email and I can email you schematics for your 555 IC's.

I'd probably do it like this -

The 470 uF capacitor should provide about 10 minutes of "ON" time.... or you could use a 1000 uF capacitor for about 20 minutes of "ON" time. Depending on which relay you choose, you could power up some brighter lights if those LED's don't do the trick.

I would use red light, it doesn't seem to scare the animals when they go on and off.
