I purchased a box of .45 gas checks for my .45 colt loads and I'm having trouble getting them to fit, when installed they fall off or pop off easily with a fingernail.

My mold (lee 2 cavity 300g) throws bullets that are not round but rather .451 X .454 then I attempted to size to .452 (ugly cut) and install the checks. It seems to me they made the base much too small which sux as I was hoping to make some magnum loads (Ruger Blackhawk and Win trapper)

Hmmm. I have that same mould and the checks fit quite tightly. This mould may be a candidate for return to Lee. You could adjust it yourself by lightly polishing the raised area of the mould where the gas check is formed, but that won't correct the out-of-round problem.

Also.....Welcome to the forum!!!

What brand checks? Older Lyman came off easily, the newer do not. Gianni

It is a pain if the mould is to small , my LEE 45's fit quite snug and stay on even when I have to pull down a few. It is more trouble than it's worth to fight a mould in my opinion send it back and get another.

I've used the older Lyman (I still have a stash), Hornady, and Gator checks. They all fit well. The lyman can be removed, but not easily.
