Hello everyone. I have been offered an Investarms Gallyon 12 gauge for $300.00 (Canadian) . The gun is in around 95% condition. Is this a decent price for this shotgun? Also, any comments about it good or bad.

I have one of those, and rather like it. It's fairly heavily built and seems like it should hold up for a long time. Not sure about the lock, it is not the best quality but should serve for some time. I did have to bend the barrel a bit to get it to hit where I was looking, but now it is dead on with shot, buckshot, or ball. Works great on the skeet field and certainly would for hunting as well but I haven't had the opportunity yet. I would say $300 is a fair deal for one if the bore is not pitted, I suspect you will like it.

Sorry if this is a thread highjack, but who exactly made the guns imported by Investarms? ABout 20 years ago, I took up muzzle loader deer hunting mainly because my ork schedule favored the ML season here. Dad got me an Investarms Hawken, the same one Cabela's has their name on now. I've been very impressed with it over the years and hunted it hard, though not in recent years. The three biggest bucks I have killed were with that rifle. Just wondered what italian firm made it.

I bought a .58 cal. Investarms in the early 80's. The lock has never given me any trouble. I did rebarrel it with a Green Mtn. .54 cal. slow twist which required a slight bend of the hammer. Otherwise, no issues with the set triggers or lock. As far as I know, Investarms is the company, they make all of the Lyman sidelocks.

Yes, Investarms is the company and they do build guns for Lyman and Cabelas and likely others. Their rifles are of very good quality. That's why I'm interested, actually just pulled the trigger, on this Investarms Gallyon.

Wow! That looks puurdy. I too have an Investarms .58 Hawken purchased years ago. It has held up well and given me zero trouble. It will never be sold. Good luck with your new scatter gun and we'll be looking forward to the range report.

Yep, I thought it was funny the Italians chose that name for their shotgun since the real Gallyon company still existed. Maybe they thought nobody would notice?

Bought one of those in the early 80's and swapped it to a friend after using it for Deer, turkey, ducks pheasant, quail and trap shooting. Never had a problem and the friend still has it and wont swap it back, darn him! It still shoos fine and the lock has given NO problems after some pretty heavy use over the years.

I just received the gun today. The gun has a build date of 1978. It is in excellent condition having only a couple of minor marks on one side of the stock. It has seen little use. Now I just gotta wait for some warm weather to try it out.
