Hi,i would like to know if I can cast for(43 mauser)with shoot #8 ,I just got a few pounds of it,thank for info.

I assume you mean number 8 shotgun pellets. I use anything from pure lead to wheel weight, so I don't see a problem with using shot. What mould do you have, I use a Lyman 446110 .

Yes, would do well, can you get no other lead? Seems like shot pellets would be expensive.

and would need a little tin.
I would advise cleaning the shot alloy in another pot before hand as the graphite coating can be a pain to deal with.

At one point, I bought reclaimed shot at the trap and skeet club for a song. It was pretty good stuff to add to range salvage and WWs. I still have perhaps 40 pounds in the garage and it has, believe it or not, 4% tin per the X Ray reader. Most shot won't go that high and some shot now has very little to no tin, but a pretty high antimony and arsenic content. That's something to be aware of if you are trying to duplicate the soft factory projectiles for the older black powder cartridges like the 43 Mauser.

Hi,i got, shot pellets # 8 Magnum --- 2-3% antimony 97-98 % lead ,# 8 Chilled Shot + 3% tin and cast into bullets tested 8 BHN + arsenic, from http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletAlloy.htm#antimony1 for reference.
