Today at work I had co-worker was telling me, how he shot a deer with Winchester 270 factory ammo that had a 165 grain bullet. I have not ever seen a 165 grain bullet for the 270 much less factory ammo. I just smiled and told him I was glad he got a deer.

Nosler does make a 160 grain bullet for the 270.....partition bullets I think....maybe someone loads it also.

In Nosler #6 there is a whole page (270) dedicated to the 160 grain bullet. I found the picture on the opposing page (271) (with caption) to be amusing LOL. The caption says "The whitetail buck crashed to the ground as if hit by lightning". The problem is the picture is of a very large bull Elk! No where in the write-up does it mention Elk!

Last week a co worker informed me that a .45 ACP will create such a large amount of hydrostatic shock, that even a hit in the leg can instantly kill a person.

well I agree with him....if his leg is positioned right in front of his BRAIN

I thought briefly about asking him to explain his theory, but almost instantly thought it wise to just smile and walk away.

he could have meant the norma 156gr 270 http://www.norma.cc/us/Products/Hunting/270-Winchester/Vulkan-/

165 156

probably not but if you look at the long range hunting forums there are some playing with 165 gr bullets in 270

but

I think the real point here is that you have learned to just let it slide when your hear something that likely is just not the case because being right but exhausted from trying to explain it or disprove what he is saying still just leaves you tired , just say something like oh well that's a very unusual weight for 270 what brand are they. then let it go and walk away

Yip no sense in argueing with the wall, and people like that act like a wall. Had a guy tell me one time he shot a redfox at 150 yd in the head, One shot kill. AAAAAAA ok got a phone call to make see ya later. Some stories are just way out there.
