I acquired, at auction, a cute little German single shot stalking rifle. Cases are made from .30-30 win. Bore diameter is .314". This was determined by slugging the bore. I have tried .312 and .313 cast bullets in it, but these aren't giving very good accuracy. I got a Lyman 316475GC (164gr w/GC and lube) mould with the rifle. These shoot extremely well, sized to .314-.315", as in cloverleafs at 25yds. However, I also want a lighter bullet load in the 115-130gr range. Does anyone know of a bullet caster that has bullets in this weight range that are available in an honest .314" or even slightly larger bullet diameter? I would even take bullets, as cast, as long as they were .314" or bigger. I can size and lube them myself.

bearmn56,

I have a Lyman 4-cav #311316 mould that drops boolits at .314-.315. However, the boolit weight is only 111grs. or slightly above. With lube and GC close to 114grs.

If you do not find something closer to what you want and would like me to send you some , let me know?

I size the boolits @ .312 & .313 for 2 diff. 32-20's. I believe you could shoot them @ .314 or not size them at all. Presently I have about 50 of them which if you want them soon, I would need to know within a couple of hours as I am leaving town and won't be availible to make more or to ship until about Wed. 4/23, unless we get this done this am.

I'll be at or near the computor for the next couple of hours. :Fire:

Where in MT are you located? there are a few members form each part of MT here on teh Forum, might be someon in your back yard.

Hang around a bit and wait to see who responds. You might get someone who will send you some or trade you something for some. I have a lyman 3118 that will cast at 314 given the right alloy but it is a plain base. I also ahve an RCBS 130 gr mould originally intended for the 30 carbine that might cast large enough, I will have to check.

Hopefully someone will come along that has the soupcan that can get you some to try. It might be the ticket for a plinker.

Check out Penn Bullets. He offers a good range of sizes for most bullets.
One that might work for you is a bullet designed for the 32-20. 115 gr, no GC, available in .309, .310, .312, .313, .314.

I have the GB mould from this forum based on the Lyman 3118, but with one larger groove instead of the 2 smaller ones. It drops at .314 with my soft BP alloy. I could use some harder alloy and/or beagle the mould to get you .315. My normal price for lubed and sized is 18.00/250 but as cast would be 12.00/250, plus shipping. You can see a pic of it at www.whyteleatherworks.com, look under accessories. mark@whyteleatherworks.com

Thanks everyone. I now have several sources for a lighter bullet. Now if only the weather here in Montana will cooperate. "Springtime in the Rockies!!!", you know.:-?

Try "Montana Cast Bullets" in Bozeman. I have used several thousand of his 116 grain boolits sized to .313 im my 32s with no complaint. I am sure that he would be willing to supply them to you unsized. I am unsure of the diameter naked but feel sure that they are at least .314 and possibly larger. Neil

Bill,

Try the cast HOLLOWBASE wadcutters, .314, 115 gr. They seem to work in my shot out 92, while others just keyhole.

Is that bore diameter or groove diameter? There is a difference.
