Was thinking about casting up some pewter boolits for use as convenient little ingots. Any chance they will solder themselves to my Lee mold?

I did the same with a 450 gr .45 mold. No problems. Since tin or solder melts at a much lower temp, you won't need as much heat as normal. I just pop a few into my Lee pot when I feel it might help.

I did the same with an aluminum sinker mold. No sticking problem.

It not only works it makes pretty boolits.

It makes really pretty (but light) boolits. I bought a bunch of pewter that had been cast into boolits. It makes adding small amounts to the pot very easy. :D

These would be for alloy sweeteners right??

To get Sn to stick to a mold (non aluminum) you would have to have some kind of rosin or flux in the mold to get it to "tin" just like when you are soldering wires.

I doubt you have anything like that in your molds because your Pb alloys would "tin" the mold anyway!

As said, use a much lower temperature.

I use 50cal roundballs. Since I don't shoot anything like that, it is impossible for me to get them mixed up and shoot them!!!!!!

Its a good idea and you should not have any trouble. Like Jim says, a caliber that you don't shoot would be even better.
