I've been reloading .45 Colt for a while now and will start to reload 9mm from my own spent brass. I've been using coated, cast bullets for the .45 Colt from MBC and really like their performance. I will likely order a 147 gr coated bullet. I'm considering the one from:

1) MBC http://missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=215&category=20&secondary=8&keywords=
2) Bayou Bullet http://www.bayoubullets.net/9mm-147-gr-fp-500-ct/
3) Black Bullet http://shop.blackbulletsinternational.com/9-147gr-500-9-147-500QTY.htm?categoryId=1
4) Acme Bullet http://www.acmebullet.com/bullets-reloading-brass/9MM-Lead-Cast-Reloading-Bullets/9mm-147-FP-NLG-Coated

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I like http://www.glcbullets.com for coated coated bullets, a smaller company that focuses on quality.

I have had good luck with the bullets from this store. He is a farmer who does bullet casting as a side job. The 38/357 and 40 cal bullets I have used of his work well.

Given my copious usage of the 9mm, 38 Special and 357 Magnum rounds, I gave up on trying to cast enough to keep the guns loaded. I've been using coated boolits from the Black and Blue company with perfect results. I order both the 125 and the 147 grain weights in .358" diameter and use them in the above three calibres. Makes life simple!

Accuracy in an Beretta 92 (M9), Browning Hi-Power and various Smith & Wesson revolvers has been as good or better than with my own cast projectiles.

Here is the link to B&B:

Got the Dillon 550 out yesterday and loaded up 400 9mm and 400 357 Magnum rounds with the B&B product for an upcoming road trip to the Rocky Mountain States and a couple of shoot-a-thons while there. Coated boolits in a progressive press are the cat's meow as there is no need to stop in order to clean out lube from the seating and crimping dies. Your fingers stay clean too!

Bayou 147 worked well in my M&P Pro and Wtness steel

I should have added that I order each boolit weight in a different color (see photo above). That way I can tell at a glance which boolit weight is in the cartridge case. I prefer the 125 in the 9mm and the 147 in the 357, but that's not a hard and fast rule depending on what I want to do with a given load.

Lee 358 RF is the ticket. A 38/.357 boolit, but works great sized at .358. Work up loads accordingly as it seets a good bit deeper I the case than the 9mm boolits.

Went through a lot of different types of 9mm before casting my own. I shot through 500 of the "black bullets" and it left an awful coating in my barrel... Not lead.. but the coating itself. It was worse than lead to clean out and I remember I couldn't wait to finish those. Although they were possibly the most accurate 9mm I ever loaded, go figure. I have also tried bayou bullets and it left some residue from the coating in my barrel as well... Not nearly as bad as the black bullets, but still a bear to get out.

I was using titegroup at the time which tends to burn hotter than other powders. This can cause the coating on these types of bullets to melt up in the heat and gum up the barrel. I cant 100% confirm this as I recall reading people having decent results...But I sure didnt.

I have also used 9mm and 357 cast bullets from acme and have nothing but good things to say. I was hesitant to order from them because I couldn't find a lot of info on them compared to the other large commercial casters, but I would definitely recommend them. Id say skip the hassle with the coated bullets and go with cast, its typically cheaper anyway.

I haven't used them but plan to very soon. This co. is located about a quarter mile from me and I have met the owner and looked at his operation. Pretty impressive.

In the old days of purchasing commercial cast boollts. The 9mm were usially too small.
