I can't believe it. Obama must not have known what he was signing. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/11/25/breaking-news-it-is-now-law-the-cmp-can-sell-1911s-to-the-public-a-thanksgiving-day-miracle/

I am thankful for it happening, but I think your right about Obama.

To me this is unprecedented and I can see antis having a problem in the future around the country trying to deny US citizens access to semi auto handguns that the government is willing to sell to us. They sell them to us because it is our right to own them.

It would be nice if we could request specific serial numbers. I know I would like to have "my" 1911A1 back. S/N 2225478 if anybody finds it.

The CMP is about to be real busy, lol, and the bottom is about to fall out of the 1911A1 market.

With them only selling 10k of them a year, the demand for them with be high for some time. I would love to see prices drop, but wouldn't expect it. Also, since it is only a one year pilot program, expect the antis to be a howling poo flinging mob to make sure it doesn't renew.

You have peaked my interest, I only live about 5 miles from the CMP facility.

Unless I misread this, it only authorizes the sale of 10,000 1911s. They'll be gone in the first hour.

I read it as 10,000 per year

Would love to get my greedy little hands on at least 3 of them. Of course to the MSM, 1 is an arsenal.

Obama will tell the secretary of defense to take 10 years to release them...

A visit to North or South store would be in order. I'm not too sure if I would want to do the "Luck of the Draw" thing on a milsurp 1911. I imagine the degree of wear and tear would be all over the map, just like the Garands are/were. Yes I have got some good ones by luck of the draw, but have also received some that weren't so nice, and that's putting it mildly. Too bad the CMP doesn't have a store in AZ....

I guess all we can do is keep an eye out. Hopefully I can get one if they ever release.
