I'm seriously looking at nickle plating on these two identical builds

Now that I'm able to see again and the wife is back on the job, we will be proceeding with life adventures again.
So as of a few day ago there is light now at the end of the tunnel.

This is the proposed build and parts.

The frame and slide will come from Caspian with the slide fitted to the frame.
The semi completed frame will be sent to Briley to have their barrel/comp comb installed.

I'm looking at scope mounts that bolt on both sides of the dust cover.

wiegand combat is i believe the mount in the pic you have of a complete pistol. i put one on one of my own pistols many years ago, its a solid mount. now days the latest is to slide mount the red dot, thereby keeping the dot lower, keeping the path of ejection clear, and eliminating the need for a slide racker. i built this a long long time ago, but you can see the other side of the mount in it.

Part of me thinks it's ugly, ridiculous etc.

But then part of me says "you know that might be kind of fun..."

Keep us updated and most importantly enjoy your project.

Don't mind me, I once thought Savage 99's were ugly.

Polished stainless steel should work
Here's one I found on the net.

This pic says it's made by Caspian.
This gun looks like my old Safari Arms 45 I built in 1979.
I'm going to call Caspian and see if they still make this frame.

I'll be looking into a slide mounted scope with that and thanks.

Duke, that polished frame looks like you'd need sunglasses to shoot. By the way, sent you a pm regarding the 37 rimmed cartridge and you requested a copy of the print that I have. PM me with your addy and will send it out asap. Frank

actually alot of them are milling the red dot down into the slide now, even lower and cleaner, instead of using a dovetail to mount an adapter in.

Two things to consider...

The original pic in the first post is a high cap double stack mag frame. The Caspian Race Ready Frame is simular in looks but a single stack. Even with medium mag pads, the mags sit flush so stripping mags is a b*jih=. If you opt for this frame, get the tactical magwell cut unless your just going for the looks.

The other item with Caspian is their slides. I prefer the clean slab side look. If you do not mention repeatedly in your order no roll marks or wreaths, it'll show up with more advertising than a Nextel Stock Car.

That is a nice clean pocket for a micro! Been thinking about a 5" 10mm for awhile myself with a ramped barrel. What caliber you contemplating Duke. I've still got three, no four now builds ahead of me before I tackle the 10mm.
