I bought a box of bullets from King's last week and accidentally selected bullets for 41 mag instead of 10mm/40cal. Their policy is 'you bought it, you keep it' so I am wondering if it would be possible (OK) to size them down to the right diameter? I want to get into casting my own anyway so figure now might be as good a time as any to buy a sizer if it's feasible to size down that far. What would be the downside(s) of doing this?

Thanks! Phil

I would not do it. You will wipe out the grease groves. You probably will have a hard time getting them to even start into the sizer with out messing up the nose of the boolit.

Ah, didn't even think of wiping out grease grooves. Had visions of a thin lead skirt at the top edge. 41 Mag is not on my gun bucket list....

Maybe sell them here and recoup money.

You shouldn't have any problem selling them here. You will lose a little cash but it's better than nothing.

I have the Lee 210 gr .41 mag mold (TL410-210-SWC) and I resize it for my 10mm handguns (G20, G29, and a RIA 1911 10mm). The bullets drop out at around 216 gr with a 50:50 Pb:WW alloy. It takes quite a bit of the tumble lube grooves out of it, but since I'm powdercoating them anyway, that's not a big deal for me.

Pretty much goes from a semi-wadcutter to a wide-flat-nose bullet when it starts with the tumble lube grooves.

These were with the Lee bottom push resizing dies.

If you size them with the lube grooves full, you'll have no real trouble and provided the nose profile is compatible with your gun, all should be well. Are you planning on using them in a 40 or a 10MM? The weight may be an issue if you are going for the S&W cartridge. Boolits for the 41 tend to be heavier than those intended for the 40.
I'd recommend a LEE push through die for this--relatively cheap and you won't outgrow it.

I planned to use them in a 10mm. They are already lubed. I thought about listing them here - I definitely have the 6 months part covered, but am a few posts shy of being able to. Just ordered a Lee push thru die, I'll see how that works.
