I know it's been talked to death ,but the newest threads from the search where a couple of old.

So boolit options ?
I have a couple of plinking options on the bench in form of 358-125 and 358-158 RNFPs. I don't expect to have to ever shoot 200yd with this rifle but it is possible that it could happen . What I do expect is southern white tail , 400# hogs and maybe a bear or 2 of the southern black sort. I believe the bbl is a 14 twist and 4895 and 4198 are currently on my shopping list . I have several 100 308 cases of GI origins and the bbl is .351 x .358 .
Currently on the list of choices ,
35-200 and 250 RCBS
35 XCB
35(8) - 225 (for the Remington I think)

The XCB of course has the wind advantage over the others but I question how important that will be in the real world application of a 35 cal rifle . So that brings me to the 200-250 weights with assorted meplat diameter .270-280 should be plenty if the boolits are of anything under 18 bhn and over 1200 fps at impact .

I've been mistaken before so share the enlightenment.

Check out the NOE 360-230 RF (RD). The link shows the only molds (RG4) available for that. The RG4 option allows you to make cup points, hollow points or flat noses.

The Saeco 245 gr. fpgc is deadly accurate in my .356 Win., should be just the ticket in the .358 or .35 Whelen.

RCBS 200 gr FN shoots well in all of my 350 Rem Mags (1:16").

Accurate Molds made me a brass (3) cavity mold from my drawings; 247 gr FN, 273 gr FN and a tip cavity that matches the 247 & 273 profile for making soft points. I would use one of these in a single alloy if I were hunting larger hogs over the RCBS. Look at the Accurate catalog it will have several options in 0.360" dia. or design your own to suite your needs, the cost is very comparable to NOE.

Start here. There is a minimal chance you will need another bullet design. Of course you will want one. But you won't need it due the performance of the RCBS bullet.

I have been shooting the RCBS 35-200, very accurate. Have the NOE 35-230 cast but not tested yet, expect it will replace the RCBS for hunting? My rifle likes the Lee 158 tc, tumble lubed, with a light pistol bullet charge. I just picked up some 'Unique' and haven't combined it with the Lee pistol bullets yet. Good shooting, Flyer

I also shoot the RCBS 35-200-FN bullet and it is very accurate in my Browning.

When I had a 358, my boolit of choice was the RCBS 35-200 FN. I cast it fairly soft, use a gas check and size it to .360." It always shot well in my Ruger Model 77 bolt rifle. My mould casts the boolts at 210 grains with lube and GC. I now use it in Mauser 98 in 35 Whelen.

200 gr. rcbs or noe is hard to beat as an all around 35 cal. boolit.
I like the noe 360230 also for a bit more weight.
Both are very accurate in my 35 whelen and also any 358 win that i've seen reports on.

I'd pick the rcbs as the easiest to get working in a 35 cal also.
that didn't stop me from going right to the saeco #248 which is 250grs and has the smaller meplat the XCB boolit has.
the smaller meplat is a blessing at jacketed velocity's and the 358 win will got you there easy enough with a cast boolit.
too soft and too much meplat will pretty much ruin all the meat on a deer when combined with a higher velocity.
if your gonna shoot from 25 to 200 yds you need a bit of speed and boolit weight to do the job at the outer edges.
you also don't want to be scraping meat off the trees on the closer shots, the smaller meplat will help avoid that.
